La Bagagerie was first established in Paris in 1954. At the time, women's handbags had to be rigid, with a flap and gold clasp. Astonished by such uniformity, Jean Marlaix, the creator of La Bagagerie, decided to flout convention and produce soft, coloured bags with a much more relaxed feel. His designs were massively successful and the leather manufacturers of the time quickly followed his lead. Today, La Bagagerie is run by Frédéric, Jean Marlaix's son, who works closely with the brand's designers to offer women stylish handbags and travel bags that are beautiful yet suitable for everyday use.
