Women's Dr. Martens 1461 W 3-hole lace-up leather Derby, with round toe and rubber sole. Removable insole. Measurements are based on a size 38 shoe. In the Doc Martens tradition, these shoes are just what the Doctor prescribed! The tradition of anatomical shoes started by Dr. Martens continues with these playful 1461 Derbies, a low-cut version of the legendary ankle boots, with their Goodyear stitching and air-cushioned sole.
Dr. Martens is a legendary brand. It all started in the German town of Seeshaupt in 1945, when a certain Dr. Klaus Maertens hurt his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier as he recovered, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. In 1959, the R. Griggs Group based in the English village of Wollaston decided to market the concept and designed the first work shoe to incorporate this revolutionary sole. The "Dr. Martens 1460" boot was launched on 1 April 1960 — the birth of an icon.
