DR. Martens

Dr. Martens is a legendary brand. It all started in the German town of Seeshaupt in 1945, when a certain Dr. Klaus Maertens hurt his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier as he recovered, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. In 1959, the R. Griggs Group based in the English village of Wollaston decided to market the concept and designed the first work shoe to incorporate this revolutionary sole. The "Dr. Martens 1460" boot was launched on 1 April 1960 — the birth of an icon.
